• ​Akshay Jain, Senior Research Engineer at Confidential Mind will give a talk titled "SampoTron: Closing the Cross-lingual Gap for Nordic languages via Query Routing". Abstract: Nemotron-3-Embed-1B is one of the strongest native-Finnish embedders, but cross-language queries lose more than a third of their recall across all embedder models. Instead of retraining or re-embedding, we added a small query-side router, SampoTron, and closed the gap by 21%, running the whole stack on on-prem. And so, this talk will delve into what one should think when choosing models such as an embedder for their RAG setup and how working across Swedish, Finnish, and English languages can be challenging for off-the-shelf models. Then we will briefly discuss the idea behind ConfidentialMind’s SampoTron model and demonstrate results on how we recover performance for cross-lingual tasks.
